SirkAQ Partners Gathered at Hallingplast

Last week, all partners in the SirkAQ project met at Hallingplast for a professional gathering. Hallingplast is already well underway in producing pipes for floating collars using recycled plastic from decommissioned plastic equipment from the aquaculture industry. This is a significant milestone for the project and demonstrates circular economy in practice.

Project Progress Update

The gathering featured a series of professional presentations and updates from the six work packages that make up the project. Partners shared insights, experiences, and status updates on their respective areas, which is crucial for maintaining strong progress. At the same time, plans were made for the next steps in the project.

Tour of the New Recycling Facility

Participants also had the opportunity to visit Hallingplast’s new recycling facility. Here, pipes for the aquaculture industry are produced from recycled material originating from decommissioned plastic components such as floating collars and walkways. The process begins with an analysis of the plastic’s properties to ensure optimal material utilization. The plastic is then granulated and transformed into pellets, which can later be used to create new products such as pipes and aquaculture cages. This marks an important milestone for circular economy efforts in the aquaculture industry.

Strengthening Collaboration and Innovation

The SirkAQ project fosters trust and strengthens relationships between partners, laying the foundation for the development of new circular business models for plastic use in the aquaculture industry. Through collaboration and innovation, the project contributes to setting a new standard for the sector.
